Measure virtually any web material thickness in-process,in ‘real time’. E.g. Steel Coil, Ceramic Tape, Polymer Films, Foam, Rubber, Battery Films, Battery Separators,  Non Woven thickness, and more... Material can be measured in a stationary or traversing mode. Two opposed lasers allow  material up to 650 mm wide to be measured. The System is provided as a turn-key solution. It is, in essence, a Plug-and-Play on-line thickness gauge. Simply mount the unit, apply power, calibrate, and begin measuring. The System records the material thickness and profile. The gauge automatically traverses the web and takes additional profile readings at selectable preset intervals.

The Oryx 3100 operates on the principle of light quantity measurement. The light from a red laserdiode is shaped to form a parallel light curtain which is aligned with the receiver unit.This forms a rectangular shaped window. The analog output of the sensor varies depending on the amount of the light curtain obscure by the roll or material being measured. The signal processing electronics converts this light output to a thickness or distance. The signal processing electronics also averages readings for one complete revolution. This eliminates the effect of roll runout. Up to 10000 readings can be stored at a rate of 2000 per second.
